Queens wreath on fenceresized

The Queen's Wreath is gorgeous right now, and the butterflies love it Butterflies cover the plants, the plants cover fences and anything else they touch. The butterflies below are in huge numbers. It's really amazing.

Every kind of butterfly loves them and I even caught a bee in this shot.

This little Gray Hairstreak butterfly (below) seems happy to share the blossoms with a bee. If you want to see more great shots of these, check out Photographer In Training's blog. She has several days of posts that are fantastic! She shot well over 1000 photos of the butterflies.

Jean, do you have the Queen's Wreath on the ranch? It's so gorgeous! I really love the photo next to the fencepost, the gray compliments the pink exceptionally well. And lookie there, you shot a butterfly I haven't seen yet. Now I have to go look it up and see what it is!

Thanks, Jean, for the link!

Hey Genie!! I have a little bit of Queen's Wreath on the hill on top of the house. It's never really taken off like I'd hoped. The shot with the fence post is from the Nursery, across from the Library.

I also have to agree with Marionette, as soon as I saw the one with all the butterflies I thought wow I would love to do this in fabric..LOL Sure hope you DO use it in a painting!

Janis, I'm hoping the Monarchs will be great this year too. We're cooling off in the mornings and evenings, so my fingers are crossed for the right weather for a good migrating path!

Zuda, thank you for stopping by! I always have a hard time narrowing down the photos to post, I had dozens to choose from. I've had fun painting so many animals this year.

WOW! That vine is amazing, I have read about it, but never been in a place to really see it in person. How amazing and magic all those butterflies, I'm swooning.
The rooster is very cool, I love that texture and way you bring such light and warmth into all your works. Just checking in, it's been awhile, and I'm always so happy when I do stop by your place. Have a great day!

OMG! The flowers and the butterflies are beautiful! All the more so as we are beginning to see the end of the flowers here - even if there are still several days of colour in the leaves! I can't wait to see the monarchs.... :)

Judith, I'm glad you stopped by! What will I paint? I'd need to live 5 lifetimes to get it all in! But, I probably will do one of the queen's wreath w/fence posts.

Hey Heather! Nice of you to visit again, yes, it's hard to keep up with all of these blogs! Truly, all of those butterflies are an amazing site. The Monarchs will be here soon, and often we don't have as many as these beauties. Glad you like my rooster! Take care!

Jean Levert Hood said...

Melody, it's pretty hot and dry down here, so I'm not sure if it grows much farther north. It's wild, it just grows and takes over anything it touches. Yes, it's so beautiful!

Michelle, yes, it just stunning this year! I hope the Monarch migration is good. Thank you so much for stopping by!
