Blue Vase is an oil painting measuring 14 inches wide by 18 inches tall. Blue Vase was fun to paint. OK, I know I say that all the time! Believe me, painting is work no doubt, but some paintings are just plain fun. I think it is because of the neat objects I choose. The crockery on the left is delightfully misshapen. The blue vase is a gorgeous piece, and I wanted it to really show it off. The fresh peppers and pot of daisies are nice live elements among the vases. Blue Vase is available on my website for $595.00. I truly do not know why I am having trouble with the font size tonight. I can see that after this paragraph it is correct. Changing font sizes seems to have no effect.
Remember Maddie, one of my students? We've been studying drawing but Maddie has been painting on her own. I'm very fortunate to now own one of her paintings! She had 2 of her pieces in a local sale and I grabbed this one. It is a wonderful little piece. As of yet, she has had no painting instructions. I am amazed at her color choices.my Etsy store you'll see my watercolor and oil paintings priced from $10.00 to $395.00.
Till next time! Oh, they had to have headgear. Sigh.

This oil painting, Chicken Strut, is one of our chickens. It's 10 inches wide by 8 inches tall. Chicken Strut is painted on gallery wrapped canvas, so you can hang it without a frame if you'd like. It has many shades of oranges and reds. Our chickens are really quite pretty! And, you know I love to paint the animals here.
Chicken Strut, Detail:
Yesterday morning the whole flock of turkeys came running at break-turkey-neck speed across the field to the house feeder. What a site! Twenty nine huge and ungraceful birds hauling it! It was so funny. It looked like they were being chase or maybe had some treasure in front of them. Something had to be going on to make them go soooo fast.
Well, that evening we checked the game camera card and saw the "before" to the field race. They were at the feeder at Lake Jean. I guess they had their fill and you can see the last of the exodus from there.
If you can see it, just above and a little to the left of the deer's head is one in flight. The deer seems to be saying "whaaa??" Turkeys do not seem to fly when they can walk or run. To see this one in flight, I'm wondering if someone in the lead said "OK, last one to the house feeder is fried!"
When you do see them fly you find yourself lifting, as if to help them get off of the ground. Watching them wind up and get ready leaves you wondering if they will ever make it. The effort is apparent. If one decides to clear a fence, it will not get any more lift than it needs to. They do not give an extra inch clearance.
The one under the feeder has his wings going, I guess he was the last. Poor thing. Oh, and that is part of Lake Jean in the background to the left in the photo. So, please do visit my Etsy store for original watercolor and oil paintings priced from $10.00 to $395.00.
Don't miss my website for more oil paintings, and to see my "What's going on in my studio this month" feature! I'll update for the December post next week.
They are glad the sale is over. Even though they took turns, they were tired holding the sale sign.

Liz Plummer is a textile artist. You can see these wonderful works as well as many of her other pieces in her Etsy Store. She is such a versitile artist, creating in a variety of mediums and styles. I love her gocco prints! She has those great gocco prints, fabric postcards, large wall hangings, mixed media collages, mounted art quilts, and much more!
Spiders Web Collage on art board - available for only $30.00!
Spiders' webs on a collage of leaves and autumn debris is an original tissue paper collage on art board. It is made with acid free tissue paper and quality acrylic paints and acrylic medium, and also incorporates printed paper and Italian newspaper to form a dramatic abstract picture. The many layers and texture of the transparent tissue paper provide depth and interest to the design.
In her own words, Liz says:
I’m a textile artist living in South Wales in the UK. A few things about me:
* I love the feel and texture of fabric, the effects of layering it and using sheers to give the illusion of depth or cutting back layers to reveal hidden elements underneath.
* A City and Guilds certificate in Patchwork and Quilting (completed June 2004) got me started working with layers of fabric, experimenting with paint, dye and other media and learning about colour and design.
* The Quiltart email discussion list, based in the US, has provided me with challenges, ideas and stimulation. My journal quilts and fabric postcards originated here (see Portfolio).
* I am based in Wales, in the UK, where I have lived with my husband and 3 boys since 1989.
* I have always made things: knitting and sewing at a young age, though usually from patterns and magazines. I first bought a sewing machine in the 1980s when I needed a dress for my brother’s wedding. My degree in history reflects my interest in the past and I love visiting textile museums, silk mills etc.
"Rushing hither and thither in our daily lives, there are so many little details we miss. The glistening raindrop on a branch, the way a leaf hangs, sparkling streets after rain.
I try and capture some of those moments in my artwork: the wonder of the beautiful world all around us, little vignettes into eternity.....
I love working with layers: layers of fabric, paint, dye, adding colours, taking away colours, building up those layers to create depth and meaning in each piece of art I make.
Most of my work uses fabric which I have dyed, painted or otherwise altered myself. I use a variety of fibres depending on the effect I want to achieve, including cotton and silk."
Here is one of those great gocco prints!
Botanical Gocco Print on handmade Khadi Paper - Plane tree seedpods - price at only $10.00!
This is based on a photograph Liz took. It is 6"x4" on handmade Khadi paper, made in Southern India from 100% recycled cotton rag. She used Golden heavy body acrylic paint and Golden screen printing medium. It is an original print and the nature of the Print Gocco means that each print is individual and unique.
Visit her great blog here! I never miss it.

My two Aspen paintings have been placed for sale.
Art Fire is a new venue that I'm trying out. It will have my smaller works, studies and watercolors, much like Etsy. They have a nice site that's very user friendly.
I painted this piece on Gallery Wrap Canvas so you can hang it without a frame if that suits you.
My walk today was great. Even though we've had a freeze the last 2 nights the afternoons have been beautiful. The sky was totally clear and it was 70 degrees!
Lake Jean had nice reflections. The water was glassy-still.
The palms haven't lost any of their foliage yet.
The water was intensely blue from this angle.
We have a small amount of fall color, some trees and shrubs are yellow-gold.
Don't forget my Holiday sale! You'll find it on Etsy. In my Etsy store you'll see my watercolor and oil paintings priced from $7.00 to $395.00.
Don't miss my web site for oil paintings of my corner of Texas as well as my travels. It's been updated. Yes, my web site has been updated! I actually updated my web site! There are cute kitty pictures on the "What's going on in my studio this month" page. Fair warning given...

The moon was so awesome last night! It was huge just above the horizon, early in the evening. Our Game Camera at Lake Jean caught this awesome shot! I don't think I've ever seen this before. We don't have too many deer feeding at night, so this is really a special shot. Oh, sigh, and about that date and time - it's kind of like the old VCR's, we have no idea how to get that date right or to remove it!
Turkeys!! I saw over 30 turkeys in the field in front of our house 2 days ago. I'd hoped that they had all stopped at the Lake to munch out before they crossed the field, but, I'm happy to have the shot of these guys!
Here is the shot I got from the patio, they are pretty far for my camera to do much, but you can see most of the large group.
Iris Emerging, Abstract Study is now available for sale!
It is 8 inches tall by 10 inches wide and features the light of the iris petals emerging from a dark background. I love doing pieces that are part abstract and part impressionistic. Fun, very fun! My sister had these gorgeous iris in her yard, and it was perfect for this piece. The outer petals of the iris were white, and the inner ones were the palest of purples.
Iris Emerging is available in in my Etsy store, click here, for $200.00.Please visit my Etsy store for sale items starting at $7.00! Here is where you'll see my smaller works and studies, as well as my watercolor paintings. Holiday Sale is in progress!
